Katholieke Universiteit Leuven is the 8th European university in the Leiden ranking. The HIVOCOMP research will be carried out in the Composite Materials Group of the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, belonging to The Leuven Materials Research Centre - an interfaculty collaborative centre, providing a coordinating link between materials science and technology research groups at the KUL. The Composite Materials Group (CMG) in the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at KUL focuses its research in the area of polymer matrix composites. Long-term research has lead to development of integrated design tools for fibre reinforced composites, comprising theory, experimental methodology and software tools for simulation of architecture and mechanical properties of textiles and fibre reinforced composites on nano, micro and meso level, integrated with macro-analysis of manufacturing and performance of composite parts.
