AVL LIST GmbH was founded in 1948 by Prof. H.C. Hans List. AVL is the world’s largest privately owned and independent company for the development of powertrain systems as well as instrumentation and test systems with about 1750 employees in Graz (over 600 graduated engineers) and a worldwide network of 45 representations and affiliates resulting in total 4100 employees worldwide. AVL´s Powertrain Engineering division activities are focused on the research, design and development of various powertrains in the view of low fuel consumption, low emission, low noise and improved driveability. The Instrumentation and Test Systems division is an established manufacturer and provider of instruments and systems for engine and vehicle testing including combustion diagnostic sensors, optical systems as well as complete engine and powertrain test beds. The Advanced Simulation Technologies division develops and markets the commercial simulation tools and simulation methods which are necessary for the powertrain development work. Experience in a wide range of simulation project work using analytical and numerical methods. Typical project definitions are: Development of simulation models based on customer data, Prediction of structural behaviour based on simulation models, Development of new methodologies, Increase of efficiency and advanced solutions based on existing models.
